SMAAC Presents: 10 Days of Prisoner Justice History
Prisoners’ Justice Day is observed around the world every year on August 10th to commemorate all those who have died in prisons. Inside prisons, people hold memorials, organize hunger and labour strikes, and more. On the outside, people gather in solidarity to hold events, raise awareness, and take action against the carceral system. In the lead up to PJD 2020, we’ll be highlighting just some of the incredible prisoner resistance actions that have taken place for centuries in so-called Canada and the USA. As we mourn those we have lost to the violence of prisons, let us learn and organize towards liberation for everyone trapped in this deadly system!
